--The Faulkner/PEN awards were
recently announced, and SLR would like to congratulate all the
finalists in the prestigious event, especially, Ha Jin, this year's
recipient and author of
War Trash.
Author,
Steve Yarbrough was a
top five finalist for his novel,
Prisoners of War. We talked with Steve about his novel,
his other works, how it is for a native Mississippian to live in
California for so long. We also talked with Steve about the new novel he
just finished.
Check out our
interview with Steve!
Southern Literary
Review has a lot of new things, including an extensive new part of
the site, where readers can browse southern
literature state-by-state. So far, we have particularly
strong literary presence appearing in
Mississippi,
Tennessee and
North Carolina. Take a
look, and let us know if your favorite southern literary figure
isn't represented in their home state!
We also have some great bargains in the
Southern Breeze Bookstore
that we
found for you and some fabulous selections for Spring.
Spread
out the blanket, take a picnic basket and don't forget to pack one
of our editor's picks for this month....
