Spring
is just around the corner and I'm looking so very forward to it.
Still, it's dreary for most of us and so a little poetry might do us
all good. I sat down with southern poet
Beth Ann Fennelly of
Oxford, Mississippi and talked about her
work and what inspires her. She is an inspiring woman and her
poetry is particularly inspiring to women, mothers. I hope you will
take the time to read our interview with her.
There
are so many good books right now that I had a difficult time
narrowing it down to just a few, but as you may have noticed by now
I try to give a wide range of quality books of varying tastes.
I'd like to especially point out David Galef's novel Flaws.
He's a terrific writer and has a dry wit that I find refreshing.

A New Editor of Southern
Literary Review
Finally, this newsletter comes with mixed emotions for me as I have
decided to step down as editor of Southern Literary Review.
I'm sad to be leaving, but I'm proud of all that I have accomplished
since creating this website. Southern Literary Review is much larger
than me and I think a new editor will only enrich your experience on
the site. So, who's taking over? Todd Sentell. An Atlanta
native and southern author. His first novel, Toonamint of
Champions will hit the
shelves very soon but don't worry, he won't be spending his time on
the site telling you about his book. I've listed it under the
editor's picks because, well, it deserves your time and attention.
There were several worthy applicants for the job of editor for SLR
but what stood out about Todd was his absolute love for southern
literature. I hope you enjoy the site under his guidance. I
also hope you have enjoyed this site under my guidance. I started it
as a hobby and it grew into it's own. I couldn't be prouder. It
wouldn't be possible for this site to flourish as it has were it not
for lovers of southern literature and quality southern writers.
